Should last a lifetime
This is a very beefy grate! Coming in at 3mm thick it’ll be a long time before it will need replacing! It might seem expensive, but it’s actually quite reasonable what you consider the material cost makes up the majority of the price. I did manage to walk out, but it was totally my own fault – I was attempting to kill of the embers at the end of the night (site rules – I would have been happy to leave them). A bucket of water was supplied by the camp site as a safety measure; when I tried to use some of it on the embers more can’t put than intended resulted in uneven cooling on a very hot, thick lump of metal. Physics happens! To be clear, even with the warp it’s perfectly usable. Maybe in future I need to be prepared with a spray bottle so the cooling effect is more distributed, and less would get through to the actual metal.
